The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago lies north-east of the South American nation of Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. The people of Trinidad and Tobago are referred to as Trinbagonians or Trinis. This English-speaking Caribbean country has an economy which is based on petroleum and petro-chemicals. Trinidad and Tobago is also famous for its Carnival-the greatest show on earth; and as the birthplace of the steel pan, soca, calypso, limbo and the martial arts - Don Jitsu Ryu.

Trinidad is known for the flowers, the rain forest, the peaks, fertile valleys, beautiful beaches and is also known for producing olympic gold medalist in Track and Field- Hasely Crawford, World record holder in cricket- Brian Charles Lara,  two Ms Universe winners-Wendy Fitzwilliam and Janelle Penny Commissiong, one Ms World winner- Giselle LaRonde and Purple Dragon School of Martial Arts for its many world champions. Trinidad also boasts of its natural features such as La Brea Pitch Lake, the wildlife-filled Caroni and Nariva Swamps, the mountainside Asa Wright Nature Centre, the bird-breeding grounds of the Point-a-Pierre Wild Fowl Trust and exquisite birding everywhere.

Our sister isle, Tobago, is relaxed, and more slow-paced. Travelers enjoy tremendously, its beaches, reefs and birdlife. It is approximately 20 minutes and cost approximately $35US to travel by plane. If you should visit Tobago, there is also a Purple Dragon School of Martial Arts there. Glass-bottomed boats leave daily to take visitors to Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool. You can take a relaxing swim in the warm shallow blue-green water of the Pool that is just a few feet deep or snorkel on the Reef and get an up-close look at several species of hard and soft coral, as well as reef sharks, jewel fish and other forms of marine life.

2010 World Karate Championships, 40th Anniversary and Hall of Fame hosted by Purple Dragon welcomes you to the beautiful isle of Trinidad and Tobago!
